Founding Terrorists

In his myopic, tunnel vision of the liberal's moral equivalence, Brian Williams (and apparently others at NBC) have reduced the George Washington to an 18th century Usama bin Laden.

Many Americans woke up to a curious story this morning: several of the former Iran Hostages have decided there is a strong resemblance between Iran's new president and one of their captors more than 25 years ago. The White House and most official branches of government are ducking any substantive comment on this story, and photo analysis is going on at this and other news organizations. It is a story that will be at or near the top of our broadcast and certainly made for a robust debate in our afternoon editorial meeting, when several of us raised the point (I'll leave it to others to decide germaneness) that several U.S. presidents were at minimum revolutionaries, and probably were considered terrorists of their time by the Crown in England.

Not only do we have idiot politicians (Marcy Kaptur from the 9th Congressional District in Ohio) trying to raise terrorists to the moral equivalent of our patriotic heroes, but now Brian is reducing the founding fathers to the level of terrorists. Right... So, Usama bin Laden, who has the blood of over 3000 innocents, from around the world and from different cultural backgrounds I might add, is the equivalent of Benjamin Franklin who petitioned the French government for support for the colonies. Or Thomas Jefferson, or George Washington, Patrick Henry, and so on. Ace describes it best in this post;

Terrorists strike illegitimate targets-- namely, civilians. And they don't strike them accidentally, as collateral damage inflicted in striking a legitimate target; their purpose is to slaughter "soft targets" as frequently as possible. That's their primary goal-- not to defeat an enemy's military, which is the goal of guerrillas; but to shock and terrorize a civilian population into acquiescence and appeasement.

Get some, Ace!

This is yet another example of how some on the left, and in this case the morons who actually try to report on the events of the day, are so out of touch with reality that they couldn't find it with a map and a flashlight.
